Gravel cycling: a different way to explore the Jura
A gravel bike is the ideal companion for setting off on an adventure.
Equally at home on tarmac and unpaved tracks, it allows you to plan varied routes and discover places that are often inaccessible on a standard road bike.
Starting from Saint-Cergue, we set off to explore the trails of the Jura Mountains via a selection of routes tailored to the group’s ability.
And when the weather permits, certain vantage points offer magnificent panoramic views of Lake Geneva, the Alps and Mont Blanc.
An outing to suit your level
You don’t need to be a gravel cycling expert to take part.
The ride begins with a short introductory session to refresh your knowledge of, or introduce you to, the basics of gravel riding:
- Position on the bike
- Managing ascents and descents
- Braking
- Driving on different types of terrain
- Negotiating small obstacles
- Adapting steering to the terrain
Once you’ve learnt the basics, it’s time for an adventure!
Your guide will tailor the pace, distance and route to suit the group’s ability so that everyone can make the most of the day.
Explore paths you might never have found on your own
One of the great joys of gravel cycling is setting off to explore.
Your guide knows the Saint-Cergue area inside out and selects routes that allow you to make the most of the terrain and scenery.
Forest tracks, trails, small country lanes and more rugged paths follow one after the other to make for a day full of exploration.
No need to look at your sat-nav: just get on your bike and enjoy the ride.
A small-group experience
With a maximum of 6 participants, the outing retains a real sense of conviviality.
The small group also allows the guide to pay close attention to each person, to adjust the pace and to share their knowledge of the area throughout the day.
Whether you’re coming with friends, as a couple or in a small group, you’ll enjoy a more personalised experience.
A morning spent discovering the Jura in a different way
Gravel cycling lets you take your time.
Take the time to explore a path, stop to admire a view, cycle through a forest or simply enjoy a lovely day out on your bike.
The aim here isn’t to break a record. It’s to have an adventure.
